Hey guys!
I need a nice head to play some heavy, big-balls, badass 70's inspired rock Razz
I'm thinking to spend around 500£ (600/700€, I'm Portuguese)
I need something LOUD.
Loud enough to shut up the drummer.
I actually have a Laney Cub Head (15 watts, tubes) but it isn't loud enough.
I have a Laney TF412S cab.
I was thinkin in one of these amps:
Hiwatt Hi-Gain 50
Orange Dual Terror
Orange Thunder 30H

but it is hard to find one to try here in my area. have tried any of them ? Do you any other amps wich would suit my needs ?
Thank you

Don't know about distribution where you are, but you should check Bugera out. I haven't tried them but they have a great rep and look the business. These are basically high-quality low-cost copies of the Marshall classics.

You can pick up the "1960" head (see the link above) for @ £325 in Glasgow.

I play fat blues/stoner/doom rock inspired by Black Sabbath, Karma To Burn, Weedeater etc.

A loud, thick and powerful sounding amp is needed to get the right sound. I have a Laney GH50L and it is EXTREMELY LOUD!!! They also do a 100w version for some serious power. These things are great for heavy 70's stoner type tones.

I used to own a Bugera 1960. They look the part and the clean tones are good but you'll need a decent Fuzz/overdrive to reach the levels of distortion needed for your sound. One of the channels broke after just 2 weeks of use.

Our bassist uses an Orange Bass Terror head and it sounds great and the 2nd Guitarist uses an Orange thunderverb, that thing is a real beast!

Really?
I've never tried the GH50L but I was thinking it was a modern-metal voiced amp.
I like it's price Very Happy

The power valves are EL34's for that British voiced rock tone but you can crank up the gain to get a full on metal sound too. The gain is foot switchable so you can get a pretty decent clean tone then stomp on the switch and it breathes fire!

I've owned and used a lot of amps in my time and I have to say the Laney is my favorite. Without a doubt the most versatile single channel master volume amp I've used. Think Marshall JCM900 with more grunt.

Can't go wrong with Laney for Stoner sounds - they provided the blueprint, after all!
