Mini valve amps Empty Mini valve amps

Post  Admin Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:26 am

I've been looking at mini/low wattage valve amps for use at home and at the recording studio. Decided to buy an Epiphone Valve Junior until I noticed that a company called Harley Benton are selling exactly the same amp, with a different finish for £140. It's made in the same factory as the Epi VJ, on the same production line.

A Harley Benton GA5H and matching 1x12 cab was delivered a few days ago and it sounds great. I changed the pre-amp valve to an Electro Harmonix 12AX7 (re-branded Russian Sovtek valve) and I'm about to upgrade the output valve and change the speaker to a Vintage 30. It's a good amp right out of the box! Sound to price is amazing.

You can see them here: Harley Benton Amp + Cab

Anyone else got experience with these amps? Or any other mini amps?

Cool!
I bought a Bugera V22 (all-valve, 22Watts). I use it always in 'triode' (10/11W)! It's a really cool amp, with a wonderful clean channel, and with a vintage overdrive. I don't like the overdrive really much , so i use a BB Preamp Clone to my dirt sounds.
According to the price, is a great amplifier!
Cheers.

I have a Marshall Class 5, I love it!
Although it's still too loud for home use when the volume's past 2 but when I'm home alone the volume's at 10 and it's the most satisfying sound ever!

I've been trying to get the back off my new 1*12 speaker cab and it just won't budge! I'm determined to put the Celestion Vintage 30 in there but having some real trouble Sad

I really dig the concept of those lunchbox amps. Kind of have my heart set on a Vox Nighttrain. Of all the amps I checked out (tiny terror, blackstar ht-5, Ibanez TSA15H) I like the vox the best.
Still wanting to try out a Blackheart little giant or handsome devil though.

I own a Bugera V5 and I'm very happy with it. Great clean sound and takes pedals very nicely (it has a great sound, even with my digital pedalboard). I also crank the valves now and then, but I think it gives you better sound with an overdrive pedal (I use Danelectro Coolcat Transparent Overdrive).

Mini valve amps Empty Tubemeister 18

I think the new Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 18 is an interesting
micro valve amp. Available both as combo and as a mini stack.
Got "Power soak" to bring the effect down to 5 or 1 W for bedroom noodeling.
Thomas Blug makes a demonstration in a video at Youtube I think.

Hi guys,
I have the Vox AC4tvh and 1 x 12 cab and its a fantastic tone machine, you can go at 4 watt, 1 watt or 1/4 watt the 1 watt setting in the house is still load but tonally wonderful .The amp takes well to peddles and easy to use just volume and tone .
The art is working it from the guitar controls Smile
