When ever I think of blues Eric Clapton comes to mind but whenever I think of the Les Paul I think of Peter Green. It's a difficult one. They both did a lot for blues as a playing style and a genre but I think over the years that Peter Green has become synonymous with the Les Paul.

both Clapton and GReeny were massive Influences to blues and rock music but I think that Jimmy Page was the first "mainstream" rock guitarist that was known for his Les Paul......
In those days Clapton was also playing SGs and Greeny was on TV playing a strat (he borrowed it for top of the pops)

For me it has to be Peter Green - he just has - you know so much soul; he never sounds like he is showing off like Slowhand; I can listen to him for hours and never get bored. Whilst I like Clapton I just don't like him as much. I rate Jimmy Page above Clapton; but PG just blows me away every time...

Joe Bonamassa! He cites Greeny, Slowhand and Page as influences, and you can hear them all in his playing. Which is great, 'cos I love 'em all. (although Clapton did defect to Leo's camp...) Joe is also famous for his iconic gold top Les Paul, which is, of course, represented in the Vintage range by the V100MRJBM. Oh, and let's not be like the mainstream and forget Mick Abrahams...

I saw Peter Green a few years ago, great night, I don't think he's touched a Les Paul in years has he?
I think Page did more for the image of the Les Paul in that era than Clapton but he's not really considered a strict blues player.
I've never been a Clapton fan, I've heard too many stories about his ego.

As far as Les Paul players go I've always admired Page, Gary Moore and Steve Clark, I'm a latecomer to Joe Bonamassa, for some reason I pretty much refused to listen to any of his stuff for years and have only recently started to take any real interest in his playing, now I'm kinda smitten. TBH, neither played a Les Paul for very long, but I'd have to say EC, because he got the British guys into it in the mid 60s. However, it speaks volumes that Vintage do both guitarists most famous models in their range... so I guess it must be PG.
I've met PG, by the way. Thoroughly lovely guy - signed my guitar - true legend.
