What do you guys think about the new Evertune bridge? Will it be a success, or is the guitar world to conservative?
Anybody tried one?

Evertune is, for those unfamiliar with it, a newly developed guitar bridge, the will keep the guitar in tune...like forever
(ok you need to tune when changing strings, but otherwise not it seems...).

German guitar manufacturer VGS has started to put them on their guitars, and I believe the first model is the signature guitarof the Swedish session player Tommy Denander.

I don't really get the point of it apart from an expensive gimmick.

Can't see it catching on tbh

It will totally keep in tune.
You do not have to retune it. No matter if temperature/ humidity changes.
If you break a string - doesn´t matter.
Check this out (short video with Tommy Denander presenting the Evertune):

http://www.vgs-guitars.com/vgs_evertune.html?&L=0

VGS have models with Evertune from around EURO 600.
The Tommy Denander model is about EURO 2500 I believe.

It´s really smart, all mechanical too. You can use different tunings, but once set to a tuning, it´s dead on everytime you pick up your guitar.

However, will hit be a hit? I wouldn´t bet on it....

It's another one of those "Wonder" items that could make things easier but guitarists (me included) kind of like the idea of having to tune the guitar, it makes me feel like I have more to do with the whole process.

One example is the Gibson Robot guitar, it's much more expensive but was supposed to revolutionise the guitar market, many people don't trust this level of technology when it comes to the good ol' six string.

Hmmm ... a guitar goes out of tune for more reasons than just issues with the bridge/saddles, so I don't see how perfect a piece of kit this can be. Add to that the fact that there are lots of stable bridge designs out there that generally hold tuning very well ... I can't see anybody really going wild for this.

And, yeah, that Gibson Robot thing always looked more trouble than it was worth.

It keeps the string tension stable, which will deal with all factors (if it works as they say Smile )

But I agree, tuning is not a big problem, for most guitars.
However, if the come up with a Floyd that never needs to be tuned, I´d be listening!

Looks like a very handy tool. If I had the money, I would buy one.

Okay, I just watched the videos. Not convinced. Okay if you've got one of these super-intonated 'wiggly-fret' guitars as per the demo, perhaps, but as an after-market part? I know they're showing it on an LP, but all guitars - Gibby's in particular (and Gibby-alikes, obviously!) can have very uneven intonation/tuning at different parts of the neck, which we all learn to deal with in whatever way works for us individually, right?. Also, of you change tunings regularly ... well, you can see where I'm going with this. Seems like a lot of pitfalls which aren't addressed in the videos.

Still, whatever floats your boat ...

And Newmountain, count me in on that no-tuning Floyd rose!

Ears! Fingers!

Jeez, if you can't be bothered to keep your guitar in tune, you have no business playing one. It's a gimmick for the 'X Factor' generation.

What next? A guitar that plays itself, goes and gets the gigs and gets itself laid???
